I am wondering if anyone has played around with the rear spring to feel the diff. in the settings.
I am running a Avon 200/70-15 I am 6 ft. 230lbs. and am thinking about a lowering kit. I was going to adjust the rear spring to make it a bit softer and thought that might lower it a bit while I am on it. Therefore giving me the look I want at least while I'm riding it even though I can't see it. I'll have my friend take a pic for me to look at.:D
Has anyone taken the shock down to the 1st or 2nd setting?

Thanks for the info. Blockhead. The new 200 feels a bit rougher on the bumps so going down may feel a little better.
I bought my 09 900 with 1200 miles, with having 2 previous owners. So I don't think that the spring has been adjusted but it may have been. I'm waiting for daylight here to pull the coolant tank and see where I'm currently at. If its at 4 I might try taking it down to 3 or maybe 2 for an experiment.
Probably wont sit much lower but maybe it will feel a bit better on my ass.

I dont have the owners manual, but i do have the PDF service manual. I was blessed with the original tool kit. The guy I bought it from said he had never opened it and niether have I. I hope the spring wrench is in there. If not I have one that I modified to fit my Raptor 660s springs or maybe my girls Spyder wrench will fit. I hope so no one around me carries them.
I've been trying to get out to the garage for a few hours now. I think its time to go.

I run my classic at the 2nd to high setting with a 200 tire, its a little firmer, fine for 2 up riding. Im leaving it there, i dont want to damage the newly grown skin that is on my hands and knuckles from the last time i changed it.

That's funny! I've heard about the possible knuckle scrapage so I wore my riding gloves for the procedure. It was simple taking it from 4 to 6 but i'm told taking it back down would be the knuckle scraper.

By the way Whiting, I see you have a Saddleman Solo seat on your bike. How do you like it? I have a Mustang but I like the sleeker look of the solo seat and I rarely ride 2-up. Thinking of buying one...

Good luck lol wihle in theory it is easy and once you loosen the coolant bottle and hang it in its holder your there. I can't budge mine unless the bike in in the air. Mine seems a bit stiff for me so I tried to change it I bent the spanner it folded like paper trying to lower down from the 6 setting. I had to put the bike on a jack to lower the setting. Yes gloves are a good idea..

ALL good conversation. I just bought a jack to do my rear tire so it looks like I get to use it again.:)
I mostly run solo, cause my fiance has a Spyder. And took the saddlebags(that came with her) off to give it a sportier look. I was looking at seats for the custom. Not too much to choose from. I guess the way the holddown is designed under the pass seat. A solo like they make for the Mean Streak would look great. Oh well maybe I'll just buy a new bike to go with the seat I want.
I'm gonna go down to 3 if its at 4 and see how it feels

Just set the spring to 2nd notch. Gonna wait til the streets dry out before I give it a test run. Ill probably move it up, but i would like to see how it feels.
Didn't have to raise the bike to make adjustment and it was on the original 4 setting. Also found two spring wrenches in the tool kit, is this normal?
